The yard has an energetic feel about it just now with horses trotting and everyone busy. The lads are riding out between five and seven lots a day, including some breakers and our first batch of pre trainers have nearly finished their trotting work. We do a lot of trotting ver poles to encourage the horses to flex their joints and to get them ready for the jump schooling, pictured is the three year old Emissaire, in the school with Thomas.
Emissaire was bought last year at the Arqana sales as a two year old and he has had a good twelve months work which has really benefitted him. He should run in either a bumper or straight over hurdles this autumn.
We bought another three year old this morning at Tattersalls Newmarket Sales; the unraced Cape Cross sired Zezaal. With an impressive pedigree, including being a half brother to the black type hurdler Hunterview, he is out of a listed winning mare. He was the only horse that I was interested in and Graham Thorner viewed him and bid on him for us, securing him at £14,000. He is for sale and will be a super bumper type, but has the build and class to be a very decent chaser in time.
