Work hard, party harder sort of sums up today.
First thing Colin and Nicola Drysdale came in to Kilduff to see their bumper winner Mighty Thunder and three year old Aurora Thunder, both by Malinas. We have good plans for Mighty and while he is still inexperienced we hope that he will be a decent prospect for the winter. Aurora, or Neena as she is known at home, is following the same pattern as Mighty did last year and Derek has her going sweetly covering many miles around the farm.
We had half a dozen horses working at Arlary, and another sixty continuing their stamina pre training. Celtic Flames and Make It Happen had their first piece of quick work: Both showed good ability and we are looking forward to running them at the end of August or start of September.
Saturday night was an epic yard party as Belinda and Debs, the Two Golf Widows, supported by Fraser and Colin, held a One For Arthur party at the Grouse and Claret for all of those involved with Arthur's Aintree win. Vicki and David Fu Tong surpassed themselves with their warm welcome and delicious, Chinese themed, food and we had music from wonderful Ronnie and Kirsty Reid; Ronnie works part time for us and is an inspired musician who adds atmosphere to every occasion.
We have to thank Belinda and Debs so much for many things, none more so than for the support that they have given every person in the yard, and for the way that they have conducted themselves as owners. They are very special people.
