Aintree And Pre Ayr

Vertigo did not stay the three mile trip at Aintree today; he is a genuine hurdler who wears his heart on his sleeve and travels strongly but he just finds the three miles too tough. There will be other days for him.

The bandwagon rolls on to Ayr tomorrow and we have seven runners.

The novice hurdlers, Templenaboe, Saint Freule and Chasseur De Tetes all have ability. Templenaboe has taken a lot of time to get his jumping technique right, but Stephen has worked hard with him and we are hoping for a solid run tomorrow. Saint Freule has been settling a bit better at home and he should translate that to the track, while Chasseur is a big immature horse who needs racing but who took a step forward last time at Perth.

In the novice handicap chase Well Above Par steps up in trip which should suit and he has plenty of strength for the soft ground.

Spoils Of War and Rivaboodiva both run in the three mile handicap and if Spoils is in the mood he could run well. Watch out for Rivabodiva, pictured, though who has a good weight allowance with Thomas and loves the soft ground.

Vengeur De Guye was on track for a race at Kelso in a few weeks, but he loves soft ground and this race has cut up a bit so he comes here instead. He has come on for his comeback run and has every chance.

Finally, we run Run Rocky Run an athletic sort who, like Vertigo tries hard. He can be anxious on the gallops so we want a nice introduction for him and if he can settle and relax he has ability.

Templenaboe took a bad fall at Ayr today. Is the horse ok?

Yes thank you, he is fine. He was a little winded but was soon back up on his feet. I think that we were very lucky.
