Ray Anderson Green has wanted to support the Northern Lights Finals at Carlise and he was rewarded with his Forest des Aigles winning the middle distance final. Aimed at mid-tier horses the series offered excellent prize money for horses who had qualified by running in two qualifiers and being placed on at least one occasion. Forest is an improving type and having won both of his qualifiers we waited for the final and our patience has been repaid. A good jumping heavy ground type, Forest looks as if he will stay further and we are looking forward to his next few runs.
In the same race Voyage A New York was a grave disappointment. For some reason he has run very poorly at Carlise on three out of the four occasions that he has been there and despite starting today's race in good form he faded at the bottom of the hill. This is not his true running and he will be back on a different track next time.
Catchthemoonlight ran above expectations, looking to cope with the ground and jumping really well. Her third place was admirable and she will continue to run this winter.
