We have had a great season with a total of forty six winners and £355,000 prizemoney at a strike rate of 13%. This betters last season's winners and is a great achievement considering that we lost many meetings with the snow and frost.
April was an extraordinary month; having battled through some of the worst winter weather in February and March the yard reaped their reward with eleven winners at a strike rate of 24%. The horses are running consistently well and many are achieving their seasonal best performances.
It is no coincidence that we have a super bunch of people here who all carry out their individual jobs to a high standard; I am very lucky to have some very bright talents both at the races and at home.
Known as a yard to produce staying chasers we knew that there would be a slightly different emphasis this season after an influx of young horses last spring and indeed our hurdle and bumper statistics have improved on previous years. The future looks bright with some exciting young horses to go forward with.
Our Grand National win last year brought on board many new owners and continued generous investment from existing and returning owners and they must be proud to be part of the yard getting stronger.
We are always good at owner hospitality and I am really looking forward to celebrating the past season at our boxes at Kelso and Perth and at this summer's owners lunch. We have finished with a rattle and we aim to carry the momentum on into the summer and autumn.
