Late Nights And Catching Up

Evening racing has its attractions but the drive home afterwards can be tiring and this evening it was Tantamount, Jaimie and Derek who were late home after running at Aintree. Tantamount ran a gutsy race, just needing the run in the final furlong but galloping to the line to be sixth; he maybe needs a drop in grade to get back to winning ways. The three arrived home at 1.30am and all were back on the yard this morning.

Derek has a busy few weeks coming up, mixing race riding with breaking in the three year olds and he has already made a start on 'Hinny' the Presenting filly of the Morrison Bell's. She has settled in well, as has Ain't My Fault who arrived from Ireland with her. He looks every inch a quality chaser and impresses with his size and movement.

We have about forty horses still working, a mix of summer horses and a few who are returning from short holidays. Work morning today saw Rich Coast work alongside the four year old Mint Gold, and Present Flight and Rossamilan, Revocation and The Road Home pairing up.

Jaimie and Blair set off for Market Rasen at lunchtime with the handicap hurdler Sky Khan. Sky ran a fabulous race after a break at Ayr last month and he returns to a favourite track in a tight contest.
