Big River Fifth In The Scottish Grand National

Big River ran a blinder in the Scottish National to be fifth. On the unfavourable good ground, he was hampered twice, once at the first, and then also by a faller, causing him to be further back than ideal. However, with his usual tenacity, he continued and battled back in the straight to be a fast finishing fifth. He is undoubtedly a decent stayer and he will be better on soft ground. He will have a good holiday now and will be prepared for more long distance chases next season.

Sky Khan needs a strong pace in his races and despite us going for the better class race in the hope of a decent gallop, the pace was slow for over a circuit. He quickened up and was only beaten less than four lengths in fifth and deserves to find another winning opportunity while he is in such good form.

big river looks a welsh national horse to me, almost guaranteed soft/heavy ground and the long straight should be right up his street.
