A busy week with horses working hard on their pretraining, covering the miles in both trot and steady canter; each horse has its own pre raining program with a mix of the different surfaces that they will train on, and a tailored program on the water treadmill depending on which muscles they need to build.
On Tuesday Scu and I had a brief trip to France, and although we did not buy the horse that we went to see it is always invigorating to see the different methods used by different trainers.
The Arqana purchased two year olds Haute Estime and Nettywell are being broken in, one by Stephen and the other by Gregor. The third, Hector Master has been bought by one of our existing owners, and he will be broken in next.
Our week was rounded off today by Jaimie picking up One For Arthur, Big River, The Compeller and Bollingerandkrug who have been holidaying in the Borders. Di Walton has completed three weeks roadwork with Arthur and Big River and they both look tremendous. Having them back makes the yard feel complete and we are planning the soft ground comebacks for them.
Finally, we have racing at Perth tomorrow with three runners. Bialco has a tough opponent in the novice hurdle but as long as the ground is on the easy side then he will take his chance. Boys On Tour is up in grade in a small but competitive field but has the advantage of being at his favourite track, while Gripper is back down to two miles and I think will benefit from his cheekpieces.
