Izzy's Champion, pictured, has a jumpers pedigree and he made a great start to his chasing career to be second at Musselburgh this afternoon. Given a patient ride by Stephen, he gradually found his feet and jumped well up the home straight, showing a fighting attitude in a tussle for second place. He looks to finally be justifying his owners, Paul and Margaret Winnell's patience. In the same race, The Road Home was travelling and jumping in the lead until an error in the back straight where he unseated Thomas. Both horse and jockey returned safely and will have better days.
Gemologist has a huge heart and battled through a competitive field to chase the leader after the last; a most likeable mare she deserves to win a race for her Musselburgh Lunch Club owners. In the same race, Touchedbyanangel was running a good race until going wrong approaching the last and being pulled up. He has knocked the inside of his canon and will hopefully be back out soon. Gripper also ran in a two mile handicap hurdle and despite jumping cleanly did not really enjoy the challenge.
Balranald ran a stormer on his first juvenile hurdle. leading with his ears pricked and jumping competently until passed at the last; he will have learned a lot from today and remains an exciting prospect.
Last King Of Wales looked to travel nicely and while outpaced on the turn for home he stayed on again to be closing in the last half furlong; this was a step forward for the five year old.
