At last, the weather seems to be relenting and we can get back to the main aim of racing horses, with two meetings at Musselburgh tomorrow and Thursday and a Kelso and Doncaster this weekend.
Our Wednesday Musselburgh runners start with two in the three mile hurdle; Island Heights making his awaited comeback from over a year off and Emirat De Cantana. Island Heights has run some cracking races around Musselburgh in the past and the conditions will suit although he is entitled to improve for the run. Emirat should run well although this is a competitive event; he has had plenty of schooling after a scrappy round of jumping last time over fences, and I fully expect him to use this run as a springboard to success on better ground in the spring.
Izzy's Champion is stepping up to three miles and if he copes with that then he should be very competitive. He is suited to the fences around Musselburgh and has shown improvement for his recent wind surgery.
Blooriedotcom is a five year old who has kept improving at home and both physically and mentally he is turning into a decent type. We have a small worry about the going but his determined attitude will not be lacking in the finish.
Finally, we think that Gemologist is another to have benefitted from her wind operation and if it helps her stay then she could be back in the winners enclosure.
