The 2019/20 season is over, ending unexpectedly, but giving us every reason to be proud and excited for the future.
With 32 winners and £342,000 in prizemoney we were in 30th position in the GB jumps trainers table we have continued to hold our own despite not having a crack at the end of season valuable races. The improving three mile hurdler, Mighty Thunder was our leading prizemoney earner and he also received the highest RPR of our hurdlers. One For Arthur earned the RPR accolade for chasers after his Becher Chase run, and the exciting bumper winner, Max Appeal was our NHF leader. Arthur and Big River are pictured.
I think that we have a stronger than usual team of novices going handicapping or chasing next season and am looking forward to some of our unraced horses hitting the track.
Our jockeys have had a good season, and in Blair, Derek, Stephen, Thomas, Cameron and Ailsa we have experience and talent going forward. Patrick Wadge will join the roster this season as our ten pound claimer, and Connor will take out his apprentice license to ride on the flat.
Looking forward it will be an odd summer without the usual store and horses in training sales, but I am sure that things will balance out and I am not too concerned as we have some lovely horses at home to sell. They have been produced over the past year and we know plenty about them; our owners will be emailed with information about them in the next week, and there are details of many of them on the For Sale page.
Only our flat horses remain in training and we have some late summer jumpers due to come in, ready for a resumption of racing whenever that will be. Whatever the future brings we will be ready for it and with a stronger than ever team here at Lucinda Russell Racing we are very optimistic about the future.
