Lucky Thirteen?

Perth is back for its first meeting in 2020 and we are showing our support with thirteen runners from Lucinda Russell Racing.

It may seem excessive, and it is a pity to have two runners in some races, but we have fit horses ready to run and it is important for their owners to get them back on the track.

So we start with two novice hurdling mares; Tarset Hinny and Accost. Hinny has been learning her trade and has matured mentally for her summer; this may be on the short side for her longterm but she needs more experience and to learn to settle. The same applies to Accost who was point to pointing last spring and who is a neat filly with plenty of stamina.

Another mare, Fyfin Patsy makes her chase debut over three miles in the second race. While she lacks the chasing experience of her rivals, she has solid point to point form and should be a better chaser than hurdler.

Vinos Choice is back over fences in the two mile chase, having run well last time at Musselburgh back in February. A headstrong type he settles in his hood and we are hoping for a good run from him.

Boys On Tour won this two and a half mile chase last year when he was off a six pound lower mark. He is fresh and well and loves it round Perth. Fortune's Hiding is another who was point to pointing last spring and while he may need further it will be good to get him back on the track on good ground.

We run two in the two mile handicap hurdle; Book Of Invasions carries top weight and has his first run for us, and Needs To Be Seen similarly makes his yard debut. He was a talented hurdler in his youth but has had jumping issues and needs a confidence boost. He is pictured schooling with Blair yesterday.

Two more in the three mile handicap chase; Prince Dundee will be happy to be back on the track after a good holiday while Rising Marienbard may need a stiffer test but is another who will enjoy the outing.

Gripper is fit from the flat and will appreciate the Perth track; he ran probably his best race over hurdles here last season. He runs in the first division of the two and a half mile handicap hurdle, while we have two in the second division; Last King Of Wales who will be chasing soon and is another who has matured through lockdown, and Effet Special who has plenty of ability if he can curb his enthusiasm and settle early in his race.
