It feels odd to be running horses at Perth's Glorious Finale having had a very short summer jumping season, however it is great to have a lucky thirteen horses ready to run.
Magnum is having his first start in a handicap and while this looks a competitive race he should relish the step up in distance. Similarly Mannochmore should be fine at this two and a half mile distance and having been a little keen at home he has his hood refitted.
Two in the mares novice hurdle; Southern Girl has her second start over hurdles and while she lacks experience of her rivals she is a mare that we like at home. Tarset Hinny has been headstrong in her previous races and we are looking for a smoother run from her.
Mint Gold ran a super race on his chase debut at Uttoxeter and if he can come on for that he should be very competitive. Vinos Choice has been unlucky not to win before now and he has been running promising races this season.
Mighty Thunder won this three mile handicap hurdle last year, albeit off a lower handicap mark. However as his mark went up last season so he improved and he is worth sticking with under conditions that he loves.
The feature David Whitaker handicap chase has attracted a quality field. Elmono takes a big step up in class but has earned it following two good runs this summer. Sutton Manor has his first chase start since January 2018 and we are looking for a confidence boosting round.
Two in the two and a half mile hurdle; Celtic Flames who is a courses and distance winner and Methodtothemadness who steps up from two miles and is another mare who works well at home.
OrionInverness has been a star for the Tay Valley Chasers however he has been out of form on the track recently. We schooled him in a visor last week and it seemed to help him to travel into a fence and we are expecting an improved run.
Finally, Gripper will be relieved to be back over hurdles having not travelled last time over fences at Kelso. He was unlucky to tip up in the lead two from home here in a similar race three runs ago but needs to better that form this time.
