We have six runners at Perth tomorrow, kicking off with Petite Rhapsody in the opening maiden hurdle. Having run too keen when upped to this trip at Hexham last time, how he settles will be key to his chances, but we are hopeful he can finish in the first three or four.
We are doubly represented in the 3m novices’ handicap hurdle with Flutter Down trying this trip for the first time on his return from a break. Gripper also takes his chance in the same race and would have each-way claims on the pick of his form having been placed on three occasions at Perth in the past.
Vino’s Choice, who was a good winner over fences at the last Perth meeting, returns to hurdles on what will be his first start in the colours of Tay Valley Chasers. His form is better over the larger obstacles, but that is reflected in his handicap mark which is now 11 lb lower over hurdles. That makes him a very interesting contender despite the fact he is officially 3 lb out of the weights.
We were really pleased with Elmono’s recent comeback at Kelso and with improvement anticipated he should run a big race in the feature 3m handicap chase under conditions that suit.
Katalystic likewise looks to have plenty in his favour as he returns to Perth, scene of his two career successes, but he does need to bounce back to form in what appears a competitive race for the grade.
