Three Year Olds By Getaway And Milan Join The Team

Having spent all of Monday looking at an endless list of horses at a hot and dusty Goffs, we got our shortlist down to nine possibles on day one and just two for today. Unsuccessful despite some brave bidding yesterday, we were delighted to strike today with both of our choices.

Debs Thomson secured her favourite by Getaway, out of an unraced half sister to the Stayers Hurdle winner Bacchanal. This very athletic sharp sort is a good 16.2 hands high and has a super temperament. He should complement Debs’ team of chasers and is an exciting horse for the future.

We had to be more patient until the end of the sale when a full brother to my Father’s Slainte Mhor from the family of Ad Hoc went through the ring and were delighted to buy him for €32,000. A horse who will improve with time he is strong and has a fabulous stride. He is For Sale and should make in to a decent chaser.

Both horses will be home in Scotland soon and will be given time to settle in before being broken in by Derek.
